“I WEAR HANDLOOM” has been making news and getting a lot of support from the fashion fraternity, television and bollywood personalities. It is a great effort to bring our very own handloom industry forward, which was kind of fading with time.
Since I belong to a family that loves classic fabrics the craze for handloom runs inside me. I love the raw, organic feel and earthiness of handloom. One can wear them in multiple ways like sarees, kurtas, skirts, palazzo or dresses. If you want to wear a handloom dress, midis or maxis are perfect for it. Midi dresses are now a rage, but to me they personify not only a particular trend but also elegance.
Here I am wearing a grey midi dress (Handloom Mangalgiri cotton), while wearing one-tone dress, it is always best to add a pop of color through accessories, like I did with brown pumps, a tribal choker and silver rings. Silver jewellery is the best match for any handloom attire. Right accessories can always make simplest of the looks stand out.
New varieties of fabrics will come and go, but THE ONE OF A KIND handloom will never go out of fashion. It is our treasure, our heritage, let us love and preserve it!
Winters are approaching, so it is time to take out handloom silk sarees, suits or skirts for the wedding season and festivities (catch the space for more handloom style).
Style tip – Compliment your handloom outfit with silver jewellery to give an ethnic touch.
